I don't know why, but for some reason Ranger fans seem to be the most wonderful people in the world. I have proof. Fellow Ranger fan Brian from the legendary blog "Play at the Plate" is having a drawing for a blaster of 2014 Topps when it hits stores this January. Cool huh?

Contest Winnings From Play at the Plate
Not only does Brian from the HOF level blog "Play at the Plate" have exquisite tastes in favorite teams, he is a very generous contest generator. I was the lucky winner of a recent contest, (1 in 72 odds of winning- how about that!) and my prize came in the mail this week. I had no idea what I won, and I was thrilled when I opened the padded envelope:
First was this very cool Ian Kinsler relic card that I did not yet have:
I've seen this card before online and have been tempted to get it, but now I don't have to. He also sent a very cool T205 mini of Ichiro that I thought I scanned but I guess I didn't.
As if that wasn't enough, he also sent a rack pack of 2012 Heritage! Here were my favorite cards in the pack:
I'm most excited about the Perez card, simply because I saw him play a lot last year here in NW Arkansas. This is my first card of him. The Wash card is awesome and I'm tempted to try to get it auto'd TTM.
Thanks for the generous prize Brian, enjoy your time off, and go Rangers!

Trade at the Plate
I’ve been a fan of the blog Play at the Plate for a while now. Brian, who runs the blog, has an entertaining blog, and is a fellow Rangers fan to boot! We never had traded before, but I recently was fortunate enough to get (2) Michael Young autos from a fun UD Ovation case break from the Daily Dimwit. That was the seed of our trade. I sent the Young auto and another low numbered Michael Young card to Brian. He was going to send back several Gypsy Queen inserts that I needed. I received his shipment today, and found the Gypsy Queens, plus a whole lot more:
I like the Gypsy Queen set okay, but I LOVE the inserts. This nice group really put a dent in my Gypsy Queen checklist. The Sticky Fingers set is my favorite from GQ, so I was happy to get this card. Brian also sent some cards of my favorite players. The Hunter Chrome card is #d to 599.
Finally, he included some very nice Barry Bonds cards. The 02 Diamond King is really sweet, with the paper border.Thank you so much Brian, I owe you!
