At Some Point A-Rod Will Go So Far Ridiculous That He'll Be Collectible Again

There's got to be a point where A-Rod becomes such a train wreck that his cards will once again be in demand.  Right?  I kind of feel like that is happening with Jose Canseco.  His cards are still pretty much worthless, but won't we be talking about him 20 years from now?  Won't that make his cards collectible again?  I caught myself looking up prices on some of his '86 Rookies after I read a few of his thoughts on Twitter.  I highly encourage you to follow Canseco if you have a Twitter account.  He's either the world's biggest idiot, or an absolute genius.

I can see that happening with A-Rod.  You know there is plenty more bizarre/crazy in the well in that guy.  And the moment someone writes a comprehensive biography on him, I'm plunking down my money for it without hesitation.

That's why I was happy to get a few more A-Rod cards from Sam at the Daily Dimwit.

Please, please, please don't take this as an invite to dump your A-Rod cards on me.

But you can dump your Rangers on me, and Sam did just that:

There was a lot more in the pack, but these were some of my favorites.  Love the Buckel Topps 100 card, and had been wanting one since the set came out.

Thanks again for the trade Sam!

Checklist Chipaway: 2009 Topps Sterling

We have major momentum on 2009 Topps Sterling now boys and girls, and need only a baker's dozen to complete the set.

Four more cards came my way this week:

I'm now 90% done with the set, and feel great about my chances of wrapping it up this year.

Cleve's Christmas Auction Preview Part 6: High End Rookie Cards

I'm likely going to be focused on winning vintage cards at Cleve's Christmas auction, but that doesn't mean I won't make a run at one of these if they go cheap enough:

Actually, unless they go under $10 I won't bother with any except the Jeter.  That is a great card.

For those of you interested in these, or any of the other cards from the Christmas auction (or any auction for that matter) Cleve does take write in bids.  You can reach him at:   479-927-0067

Checklist Chipaway: Topps HD Image Alex Rodriguez

I have now completed the HD Image insert set from Topps HD.  This was difficult because a)the cards are expensive and hard to find, and b) Topps numbered these as if there were supposed to be 20 cards in the set.  As far as I can tell, they only made 10.   This week I got the last card I needed- A-Rod:

 Here is the full set:

I have some 2001 Topps HD base cards in transit, and that will pretty much complete my “master” set of 2000 and 2001 Topps HD.  There is only one insert set I still need.  There were a couple of relic and auto insert sets, but those are either way too expensive, or flat out impossible to find.  Once I knock out the other insert set that I can actually handle, (“Clearly Refined” it’s called), HD will officially be off the books for me.  Yippee.
