COMC Black Friday Parade: Beltre Beltre Beltre!

Yesterday I showed off the Ranger cards I picked up on COMC's Black Friday sale.  Well of COURSE I bought some Adrian Beltre cards too!  Behold:

This is one of those Blue Sapphire rookie reprints found in Bowman 2013 products.  I paid like $.50 for it.  I think that's pretty incredible when you consider this particular card was inserted in boxes of Bowman Inception, which I think cost something like a kajillion $ a box.  So it wasn't cheap to get this card, even as a toss in to the rest of the product.   I know this isn't the card that collectors are buying the boxes for, but still.  Seems pretty amazing to get this card for nothing, but maybe I just don't get it.

I think all of these cost around a buck each.  I'm building quite a nice Beltre relic collection.

Finally, a added this acetate card from 2013 Pinnacle.  It's a sweet card, and I would be all over this insert set if only the team logos were present.  Man, I wish they had a liscence!

COMC Black Friday Parade: Rangers Rangers Rangers!

Man, I had a lot of fun with the Black Friday sale on COMC.com.  I got some really great stuff and it didn't set me back all that much.

I had all kinds of sweet spots in my collection, with some of my favorites being the various Rangers I picked up :

This was by far the most expensive card I bought, and it actually wasn't that bad.  It's an incredibly beautiful card, and if Profar lives up to his potential, the cost will be well worth it.  Even if he flops, it's still a great looking card.

Here are some other great looking cards:

I think my only regret is that I didn't pick up more Darvish cards.

I also had my last dalliance with Ian:

Oh Ian, I miss you already.

Black Friday COMC Spoils Part 4: Gypsy Queen Green Paper Framed Set

I’m 75% done with this set, and they look fantastic in the binder (strangely enough even at 75% complete, I don’t have one single page that is complete yet).  I snagged these three at great prices:

Black Friday COMC Spoils Part 3: 2003 Diamond Kings

2003 Diamond Kings was the first “Master Set” I ever committed to building.  I started with a wax box of it in 2003 and a decade later I’m still at it.  I’m fine with the slow going of this set though.  The COMC Black Friday sale was a great chance to make some headway.  Here is the card I’m most pleased with buying for this set, and perhaps the best cards I picked up from my overall Black Friday purchase:

I’ve got 37 of the 50 jersey cards from this set.  I don't think I have that many other jersey cards from all other sets combined.

I didn’t have many of these Heritage cards, but am now 60% done with this part.

I’m a little surprised how hard these HOF Heroes reprints have been to find at good prices.  They’re ok looking, but not my favorite insert from this set.
Finally, I was able to get one Team Timeline card, and have 6 of 10 of these cards.

Black Friday COMC Spoils Part 2: Stadium Club Diamond Pearls

When I come across these Diamond Pearls insert cards from 2001 Stadium Club, I think of the song “Diamonds and Pearls” by Prince.   Let me ask you:  If that song is playing in my head while I’m looking at these pictures of dudes, that doesn’t say anything about me psychologically does it?  It just happens because of the connection between the words "diamonds and pearls" in the song and on the cards, right?  Right?  Right?????

This is a set I lost steam on a year ago, but found great deals on Black Friday for all but two (Manny Ramirez, Shawn Green) of the remaining cards I needed and will soon put this set to bed.

I don’t mean that I want to go to bed with these cards.

It’s a figure of speech, I don’t mean it literally.  Why is that Prince song so loud in my head right now?    I do like touching these cards though.  I mean, I don’t like it!  I put them in the pages right away, ok?

In all seriousness, I love the pearl finish of these cards.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Black Friday COMC Spoils Part 1: 2009 Topps Sterling

By including “Part 1” in the title, I indeed am indicating there will be multiple posts discussing my recent Black Friday binge on COMC.com.   Yes, I know a lot of other bloggers are doing this same thing, but I don't care.

I had a LOT of fun shopping for these cards, and made major headway and even completed many of the sets on my master checklist(now updated).   I’m thinking we’re looking at about a dozen posts to wrap up my purchases.  It’s not that I bought THAT many cards, but the purchases fall into about a dozen small sub-groups that each deserve their own post.

We’ll start with one of my favorite sub-groups, 2009 Topps Sterling.  This is one of my favorite sets ever; it felt great to make a dent in this checklist.  I now only have 19 cards left to go, and am 85% complete. Here are the four I bought:

The Campanella and Murray cards completed a page, which I will show to you now:
