Sorry Jaybarkerfan's Junk & Thank You Jaybarkerfan's Junk!

As I've said before, Wes from Jaybarkerfan's Junk is a Saint. It pains me to write that about an Alabama fan, but when the shoe fits...

And as hard as it is for me to feel bad about Alabama getting MAULED in the Sugar Bowl the other night, a tiny little part of me feels a 1% bit of sadness since I assume that Wes was not happy about the result of the game.  And the thought of Wes being unhappy makes me unhappy.   But then I think about Nick Saban being unhappy then I get happy again.  Then I think about Wes being unhappy and I get unhappy again.  Then I think about AJ McCarron's girlfriend and... wait, how did she get in here?

Anyway, I was one of the many fortunate souls to receive a surprise USPS mailer full of cards over the holidays.  And not just cards, 100% Ranger wholesomeness:

Look at that stack!

It would take a week to show all the great stuff here, so I'll stick to some of my favorites.  But first, a thank-you/get-well-after-that-beating bouquet for Wes:

Yes, that is a fragrant bouquet of Pete Incaviglia (the g is silent people) cards.  Seriously, it's supposed to look like a bouquet of flowers.

My favorite cards from the box, other than the Incaviglia's of course, were the vintage.  I don't have any old Rangers team sets, but I bet I'm now very close on the 1981 set:

I also have a nice start on the 1980 set, which by the way, is finding it's way onto my interest radar as a set to build in the future:

And there were plenty of other awesome vintage cards as well:

That's not even getting into the modern stuff, which was also awesome!

Thanks again Wes.  I'm hoping to help you out soon with your 1969 set!  And sorry about the Sugar Bowl!  (hehehehehe)

Brother Wes- The Patron Saint of PWEs

Wes from Jaybarkerfan's Junk is at it again.  Seriously, if the baseball card blog community ever evolved from community to cult to full blown religion, I would like to nominate him for Sainthood.  In fact, St. Wes is how he will be known going forward on this blog.    Here are a few things I got in one of his famous PWEs last week:

Some old, some new, and several candidates for the sampler album.  Thanks again Wes, you are the man!

Black Friday COMC Spoils Part 6: Deckle Post Pressure Cooker

I was already feeling a little bit of pressure toward writing this post to begin with.  I mean, it's the freaking 6th post in a row in which I've blathered on about my COMC Black Friday purchases.  Black Friday was sooooo November.  But I've got a lot of cool cards to cover and must press on.    I already had every intention of making this post about Deckle Edge cards from 2012 Topps Archives fascinating, provocative and relevant to today's cultural climate.   Here are the cards I'm talking about:
Very cool insert set I must say.  Here is the completed set, all nice and crooked in the sheets because they don't really fit:

I could just let these cards speak for themselves, and leave it at that.

But then my man Spiegel had to go and nominate me as the greatest blogger of all time and now I have to live up to the hype and find a way to entertain you people yet again.

Don't know what  I'm talking about?  Well, you should, so go over to Jaybarkerfan's Junk blog and check out the nominations post for the 2nd Annual Blog of the Year contest that Wes is graciously coordinating.

Perhaps Spiegel's nomination didn't specifically call my blog the "greatest of all time" but that's how it's being referred to around this household.  I assume I will receive some sort of plaque or citation for being nominated?  I've sent the press release to the local media, but they all seem to be focused on the Razorback Head Coach search (thanks for the mess and the stealing of my ink Bobby Petrino).

What I'm getting at is I'm not sure what to do with this post, so give me some time to stew over it and I'll get back to you.

Breaking Jaybarker Fan’s Junk Jinx Part 7: Shiny Rangers

This concludes my attempt to get the Rangers out of their June swoon.  So far, it looks like they're back on track.  Let’s put a pretty bow on this process and wrap up with the shiny cool cards that Wes of Jaybarker Fan’s Junk sent:
