COMC Black Friday Parade: Wooo Pig Sooie!!!

This year, in football at least, was rough disasterous for my Hogs this year.  But we at least finished with a valiant effort and near win against LSU.  So I wasn't too despondent regarding my Piggies when it was time to shop the COMC.com  Black Friday sale.

I realize that 99% of you don't care about the Razorbacks, so I'm going skip the effort of commentary on these cards and just show the pretty pictures.  The important thing to remember is all of these guys below are Razorbacks.

One quick exception.  These D-Mac Inception cards are the boss.  I guess it's almost time to say it hasn't worked out for D-Mac in the NFL, despite periodic flashes of greatness.  He just can't stay healthy.  No matter, he's still probably my all time favorite Razorback football player.  If he would somehow find his way to the Cowboys, I would pass out from ecstasy much like I did when Cliff Lee became a Ranger for a half season.

Ok, this deserves a comment too.  Knile Davis is a bad MOFO, and I'm predicting greatness for him in the NFL.  I'm ecstatic about getting this auto for a couple of bucks.

Ok, another quick comment:  poor Tyler Wilson.  I remember draft experts saying (before the draft) he was the most NFL ready of all the QB prospects in last year's draft.  He was recently cut by the Raiders.  It doesn't work well when my Hogs go to the Raiders.

Just Commons Maiden Voyage

I’ve heard quite a lot about Just Commons from fellow bloggers lately and finally decided to check it out.  It’s pretty similar to sportlots.com, but you aren’t shopping from multiple vendors so the shipping rates are easier to manage.   In fact, if you purchase $10 or more, shipping is free.  So I spent $10, mostly knocking off some needs for my checklists and filling Sampler Album pages.

Just Commons also has a section of $2 relics/autos and I found a few good ones for my collection:

Nick Schmidt is a former Razorback, so $2 for this chrome autograph is great for me.

I’m really proud of this Derek Holland auto for $2.  Even though he looks ridiculous with that mustache.

I certainly have not been in buying mode these days (or blogging mode for that matter), but this was a fun purchase.  Overall, I got about 20 cards, most around a dime or so.   It looks like the site adds cards pretty regularly, so I look forward to checking it out again soon.

Unrelated Cards I Got In The Mail Last Week...

The blog is on autopilot for a few days this week as I journey out to San Francisco to meet with some Walmart.com folks.  I hope to heaven that as you read this on Wednesday, I will have by then been in attendance at the Giants-Mets game Tuesday night.  As I type this, I understand that our chances of getting tickets are at 80%.

Anyway, I got these two cards last week, and didn't have the gumption to give them each a post, although they are cool enough I probably could have:
I requested this for delivery from the Topps Diamond Giveaway site on the last day deliveries could be requested.  I think that was June 20th.  It arrived on July 27.  I really like these cards.  I want some of the 2012 die cut cards too,  but all I ever get when I plug in my codes are those stupid virtual coins.

I also got this Nick Schmidt card for $3 delivered.  Schmidt was first round draft pick out of the University of Arkansas by the Padres, but had his career interrupted and almost ended due to injuries.  He's back with the Rockies farm system and doing pretty well.  I would have wanted this card anyway since he is a former Razorback, but I'm glad there is still hope for him to make the big leagues.
