The other set I was able to knock out with the COMC Black Friday sale was the Gypsy Queen Legends set when I added this Lou Gerhig card:
These are pretty cards to look at, and now I can look at the whole set:

Cleve’s Auction Night: Razorbacks and Minis
I had another good haul from Cleve’s auction last week, which makes two decent auctions in a row for me. I doubt I'll make it three though because I didn’t put in a whole lot of bids for next week. What did I get, you ask?
How about a huge stack of about 150 Gypsy Queen Minis? I’ve had some luck picking up lots of these cards from the auctions lately. There were several duplicates in here, but I’m not complaining at $4 ( under $.03 a card).
I also scored a small lot of sepia minis, numbered to 99. No way am I going to try to build this parallel set, but I thought they would be good for Listia, or as trade bait if anyone is interested.
Woooo, Pig Sooie!!! It wasn’t a conscious plan, but I would up getting several former Razorback cards this week. I'm stunned that I was able to get this Jarius Wright for only $5, especially here in Hog Country. Jarius will go down as one of the greatest Razorback receivers ever, and is the currently the all time Razorback receiving yards leader.
I also picked up this nifty card of the guy who through the ball to Wright for most of those yards, Ryan Mallett. This is a nice looking card and I dig the snippet of football leather sandwiched between the fabric relics.
Rounding out my Razorbacks was this Felix Jones relic. Glad to see him start having a little success again recently.
Finally, unrelated to either minis or Razorbacks, I picked up this Jim Palmer manu-leather card. Don't really need it, but it's still a cool card.
Grades:
150 2012 Gypsy Queen Minis $4: A+ Great bargain here, and put me in great shape to complete this set. A full album of a mini set is going to look awesome.
2012 Gypsy Queen Mini Sepia Lot $3: B+ This should help me rack up some points on Listia. They're also available for trade if anyone is interested.
Topps Inception Jarius Wright Auto $5: A This is a beautiful card, and I'm not going to find it cheaper than that anywhere.
Ryan Mallett Triple Relic Card $6: A+ I love Ryan Mallett and I love this card!
Felix Jones Stadium Club Relic $2: A: Nothing flashy but only $2. Great for my Razorback album.
Topps Manu-Leather Jim Palmer: $3 B: Eh, it's a neat card, what can I say.
The Sepia Minis and the Palmer are available for trade, the rest are staying with me.

Cleve's Auction Night: Nice Variety This Week
I'm pretty, make that very, happy with my haul from Cleve's this week. I didn't get the 1972 Brooks Robinson that I wanted, but picked up a nice variety of three solid cards:
This 1962 Marichal is a great add to my sample album. I've got 4 very good cards, and the page doesn't look so skimpy anymore.
Then I went all Ramirez:
Yes, he's a steroid fueled lunatic, but this is a really cool card. I have a decent amount of relic cards, but hardly any with cool patches, so this is a nece add.
I'm very happy with this Aramis Ramirez auto/relic. He's under the radar as far as I'm concerned, but is within striking distance of 400 home runs in a few years, and will have a nice career compiled when all is said and done.
Finally, I won a little lot of Gypsy Queen minis. I guess I'm building the set since I've got about 40% of the cards now.
Grades:
1962 Marichal $3- A : An early card of a HOF pitcher for $3?? Easy A.
Manny Ramirez Fleer Nameplate Patch $4- A: He's not going to the HOF, but people will talk about this character for a long time.
Aramis Ramirez Auto/Relic $3 A+ : This is a superb auto at that price. I'm shocked I got it.
Gypsy Queen Minis $2 B+ : Other than two of my favorites in Kinsler and Beltre, no big names, but getting these for about $.16 each is not too bad.

First Trade With $30 A Week Habit
Sometimes you can just tell when someone is a nice guy. Robert from $30 A Week Habit is one of those people. While there are some unstable psychopaths out there, like the Lost Collector, most of the bloggers I deal with are swell fellows. This is my first trade with Robert, and it was a very efficient effort, knocking off one of my Gypsy Queen insert sets, getting me all but one away from finishing another:
With the Hosmer and Kimbrels, the Future Stars set is done, and with the Gibson, I only need Lou Gerhig to wrap up Hallmark Heroes.
Thanks for the trade Robert, and I hope to deal with you again soon!

Cleve's Auction Night: Kick Starting a Few New Sets
First off, I wanted any of you who have enjoyed my Cleve's posts to know that Cleve has been in poor health lately. Cleve, I know you read my blog when you can, so I wanted you to know my thoughts and prayers are with you and I hope you get to feeling better soon, as are all the folks out there that enjoy reading about your auctions!
I had a couple of write in wins at this week's auction, and as such, need to add a couple of sets to my master checklist:
I guess I'm going to go after this cool di cut set now that I have a few of them. I won with a min $2 bid on this Pujols, which I thought was good bargain.
I've also been working on a 2012 Gypsy Queen master set, but had intended to skip the minis. However, I got a lot of 50+ cards from the auction and along with what I already own, I've got enough to warrant chasing the rest. I'll add the mini's (and the Chrome di-cut) to my master checklist soon and hopefully I can keep building it through trades.
Here are most of the minis I won:
Yeah, these are pretty cool, and will look great in the Gypsy Queen binder.
Grades:
2012 Topps Chrome Di-Cut Pujols $2: A- Very cool card, and I'm not going to get it cheaper than that anywhere.
2012 Gypsy Queen Mini lot of 54 $5: A+ I'll take minis at $.10 a piece any time, and this is a great way to jump start building the set.
Tomorrow, I'll give the preview of Tuesday's auction.

I put one insert set from 2012 GQ out of it's misery and am extremely close on another couple with this recent purchase from sportlots.com:
Glove Stories: Now 100% Complete
Future Stars: 1 missing (Jeremy Hellickson if anyone wants to trade it to me)
Hallmark Heroes: 3 missing (Bob Gibson, Gerhig, Musial)

I've Been JABO'd.
I recently participated in one of JABO's ever popular group breaks, buying the Royals on a two box Gypsy Queen break. I don't do a lot of group breaks, but the Royals were cheap and I thought I should gamble on getting a big hit. At the time I bought my slot, it was not common knowledge that Eric Hosmer would be one of the redemption signatures available. Once I found out this was a possibility, my excitement level rose to new heights thinking I was about to make a major score. My cards arrived in the mail this week, and......
drat, no Hosmer auto. But I did get two Alcides Escobar cards, and isn't that just as good? Kyle was also kind enough to throw in some extra cards of the Royals, including a Topps 2012 Hosmer, which rather surprised me since Kyle is a frustrated Royals fan. Don't worry Kyle, they'll get there eventually!

2012 Gypsy Queen First Purchase
Let me join in at what is sure to be a flood of Gypsy Queen posts in the blogosphere. Gypsy Queen was by far my favorite set last year, and from what I saw with my purchases today, will also be in 2012. I've been on the lookout for it the past few days and snagged a few rack packs today when I saw them available:
First, the base:
Again, there is a nice mix of vintage and modern day stars. The Dwight Gooden card is fantastic.
Then the minis, inserted one per pack. I didn't really go after these last year, but probably will this year. They have all kinds of different backs, but I don't find that in the least bit interesting so I didn't scan them.
Here were the inserts I pulled. Once again, these look awesome to me. The Kinsler Sliding Stars card may be my favorite card of 2012 so far.

I'm very tempted to make a run at completing the bronze paper parallel set. At 300 cards, that's pretty daunting though.
How about a run of Yankee Legends? Half of my bronze paper inserts were Yankee greats. Not complaining about that at all, but I still couldn't help but think:. "No more Yankee my Wankee, the Doon need food!"
Finally, my only hit, but it was a nice one. Love the gray flannel on this Steve Carlton relic.
So there was my first taste of Gypsy Queen. I may do something I haven't done in a while, and purchase a hobby box. This is a great set!
