Five Star For Five Dollars

Yes, I poked fun at Topp's Five Star Club just recently, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't take some of the awesome cards from the Five Star baseball set (that I guess are sort of linked to the Five Star Club) if they came my way at my budget.  I targeted a couple of cool Ranger cards on eBay and was twice successful:

I've seen a few Five Star cards in person now, along with the two that I now own, and in all fairness to Topps, these are pretty darn impressive.  I still wouldn't pay $500 for a box that holds, what- 6 cards?- but I definitely appreciate that these are extremely nice.  These jumbo jersey cards do look a little too similar to the Topps Museum jumbo jersey cards though, don't you think?

Eh, whatever, they're still nice cards.  So nice, that I went after a second card to go with the Beltre above:

I spent about $10 combined for the Beltre and Kinsler Five Star cards.  Not bad at all for cards that come from a $500 box.

I was thinking the same thing on how similar the jumbo swatches look to Museum Collection. Nice pick ups.
