I won't try to add anything profound to the Jackie Robinson discussion today, other than to say that I don't think it can ever be understated how important and frankly miraculous his accomplishment was. I'm hoping that as progress in our national attitude toward race continues to improve that it becomes more and more confusing and repugnant to future generations what he went through. And I'm hoping that this day continues to be a reminder to all of us, especially those future generations, of what we are capable of at our worst, and our best.
I thought it would be a good opportunity to show this fantastic peice I've had in my collection for some time-
It's a laminated "booklet" for want of a better word, with a patch and coin commemorating the 50th Anniversary of his first MLB game.
