Trade With Manupatches and Chrome Scratches
I'm ecstatic to get Michael Young relic cards, especially when I don't already have them. He also threw in a bunch of other cool stuff:
And he also sent some of my favorite non Rangers. The Strawberry Fleer card is the bomb! I appreciate the extra cards, and I definitely owe you Eric!

Wax Wednesday- Bowman Platinum
I've been able to mostly pass on A&G so far, but the other day at Walmart, I just happened to be walking by the card section when I saw the stocker putting out some brand spanking new Bowman Platinum. Actually, I couldn't give you a good reason why I felt the need to grab these. I wasn't overly impressed with Platinum last year. Perhaps I wanted to be one of the first to post pack break results from this offering. So far, I haven't seen much on this set in the blogosphere. Probably, I was still coming down from the high from Brycemas and hoped lightning would strike twice. Yeah, actually I know that's it. I'll save the suspense and tell you I didn't hit anything big. But I do like these cards.
Here is a base card. This is actually a case where the scanner OVER does justice to the card. The base cards are nice, but it's not as shiny as the scanner makes it out to be. The prospects set cards are nice too:
These look and feel more like chrome cards than the base, and in fact curl a little bit (but not as bad as Topps 2010 chrome).
Rack packs come with 3 purple parallel cards. Here was what I got:
And of course, there are all sorts of other parallels:
The Cox (Yea! a Razorback!) and Ackley are refractors, but not numbered. The Crawford is more true red than the scan shows.
Looking at the checklist, I'll probably decline to build this set (not enough Rangers) but will probably put together some "rainbows" of a few players. Anyone else have any initial luck with Platinum?
Big Fun Game Wrap Up..
Here is the final prize list:
1. Dawgbones- T206 Lot
2. Matt - Gypsy Queen Green Lot
3. cardanathema (frzn) - Clemente from Matt, lost collector

7. lost collector - Longoria from dawgbones
8. eric - Mauer Patch from cardanathema
9. trey j - Joe Morgan from lost collector
10. diamond king - Bowman Harper Card
It was interesting to see the biggest reaction to any of these was from dawgbones' T206 lot! I thought for sure it would get traded, but I'm thrilled that it was a great fit for him!
Here were the two prizes that went unclaimed:
Big Fun Game Update
Looks like no one is going for a final pick. Glad everyone is happy with what they got! I'm swamped at work right now but will post a final wrap up tonight with pics of the unclaimed prizes

dawgbones may select any number from 1-12 and I will reveal what is behind that door once he makes his pick. Matt will have the option then of either stealing dawgbones pick, or selecting from the remaining doors. If Matt steals from dawgbones, dawgbones will then be able to pick again (but not steal from Matt). Remember, there are 10 contestants but 12 prizes and at the end of the game, two people will have a chance to trade their prize if they want.
Thanks to all who signed up, and better luck next time to those who didn't get in. The next time I do this, I will need to figure out a way to up the odds for the folks who've entered all 3 times and never got in. Maybe an extra entry everytime you have entered but not been selected?
Any questions??? Ok, let's go!!
Cleve's Auction Night: "This Is Getting Ridiculous, Napkin"
That was a lie only in the sense that I wound up going in and putting down a whole bunch of write-in bids. But they were lowwwww bids, and I got some good stuff again. Let's move beyond the lovely wife's reaction when I came home with the goods Saturday afternoon. I think she's getting numb to it.
Let's review, shall we?
A quick scan of ebay shows these are nothing special, but they look cool to me. I was a broke college kid in the mid 90s so I wasn't able to afford McDonalds fine dining to get these cards. A $1.97 combo at Rally's was my idea of splurging..
Oh, in case you are wondering, Big Fun Game participants will be announced today!

A Suprise From The Lost Collector
and a nice note from AJ over at The Lost Collector blog, one of my favorites. In fact, AJ is one of my favorite people out in blogger world, and the card hobby is better for him returning to it. We had a trade a little while ago, and he felt like he needed to add a follow up card. It wasn't necessary my friend, but I am stoked about the card nonetheless! Ian Kinsler is one of my favorite Rangers, and I didn't have this sweet relic card of him yet. Better still, it's numbered to #199.
He also sent a cool Kevin McReynolds card from the 90s, but I was in a rush and didn't have time to scan it. That's former Razorback Kevin McReynolds, thank you very much.
Thank you for the cards, AJ, I really appreciate it!

San Doonego addendum
This is the view from Altitude, the bar at the top of the Marriott by Petco Park. Just unreal....
On The 9th Day of Brycemas
The base set doesn’t do much for me, but I love the inserts. I will probably give this set a year to sit while I continue to work on other sets, but I when came across a good Sticky Fingers lot on eBay I bit. I also managed to pick up a couple of other insert singles here in there on Sportsbuy.com and sportlots.com.
Here are the Wall Climbers I have. I am only lacking #1 Hunter, #3 Swisher, and #10 Dejesus
I have further to go on the other inserts so I'll spare you the images of half filled pages.

San Doonego
We were in Salt Lake City Saturday and Sunday, Phoenix Sunday and today, and came in to San Diego this afternoon. I was getting used to the furnace blasts every time I went outside in Phoenix, so when I got off the airplane today, the mild temperatures in San Diego put me in an instant great mood. My mood really skyrocketed when I saw that our hotel was walking distance to Petco Park. One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in my life:
I am so bummed the Padres weren't home tonight! I love the walk up seats out in center field. Apparently, they are free to the public.
